Movie Meetinghouse is actively seeking Beta Testers to help try out and build the site, and - in return - we are offering the opportunity of ownership in MMh.

The Help Video for this section is currently under construction, but please feel free to read the text version to learn all about becoming a Beta Tester on MMh today!

In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as we work to make Movie Meetinghouse the best that it can be.

    Feature

    Features are movies that are at least 60 minutes long, were professionally or independently produced, and are structured around a screenplay.

    A few examples of Features are:

    • Easy Rider
    • Toy Story
    • Nosferatu
     Feature
    Television

    The Television category includes episodic tv series which have aired on a television network.

    A few examples of MMh Television content are:

    • Monk - Mr. Monk Meets the Godfather
    • Revolution - Ties That Bind
    • Suburgatory - Foam Finger
     Television
    Documentary

    Documentaries are movies which, through "creative treatment of actuality", attempt to present the facts about a person or event.

    A few examples of Documentary movies are:

    • Supersize Me
    • Ken Burns' Prohibition
    • March of the Penguins
     Documentary
    Short

    Shorts are movies that are UNDER 60 minutes long, and are structured around a screenplay, but are NOT episodic (i.e., television series) or sketch pieces (i.e., "Funny or Die" skits).

    A few examples of Shorts are:

    • The Red Balloon
    • Un Chien Andalou
    • The Great Train Robbery
     Short
    Music Video

    Music Videos feature a rendition of a recorded song, and may portray the musician(s) performing the song and/or include visual images interpereting the lyrics.

    A few examples of Music Videos are:

    • Michael Jackson - Thriller
    • Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
    • Justin Bieber ft Ludacris - Baby
     Music Video
    Sketch

    Sketches are generally under 10 minutes long and structured (loosely or strictly) around a screenplay, but are NOT shorts, or entire/complete episodesof tv series.

    A few examples of Sketches are:

    • The Onion News Network: Quiet Temp Actually Very Untalented Singer-Songwriter
    • The Landlord ("Funny or Die" video)
    • The Kids in the Hall: 555-Jerk sketch

    Trailer

    Trailers are generally under 3 minutes, were professionally or independently produced, and function as a teaser or preview of a feature, documentary, or television show.

    A few examples Trailers are:

    • Star Wars Trailer
    • Revolution Sneak Peak of upcoming episode
    • Farenheit 9/11 Preview
     Trailer
    Novelty

    The Novelty category contains content that was not professionally produced, and is not structured around a screenplay. Many viral videos fall under this category.

    A few examples of Novelty content are:

    • The Ultimate Dog Tease
    • Model Falls Twice - News Anchors Can't Stop Laughing
    • Charlie Bit My Finger
     Novelty
    News & Information

    The News & Information category is for movies that focus on current events and general information (but NOT instruction).

    A few examples of movies that belong in the News & Information category are:

    • TED Talks Videos
    • The 2012 Vice Presidential Debate
    • "The More You Know" information clip
     News & Information
    Instructional

    The MMh Instructional category is a great place to find How-To, and online learning videos.

    A few examples of Instructional content are:

    • How to Roll a Burrito
    • 21W.742J Writing About Race: Narratives of Multiraciality (MIT)
    • Learning Javascript online
     Instructional
    Other

    The Other category is for MMh content that does not fit in any other category.

    Please Note: Movie Meetinghouse is currently in beta testing, and we will be examining all movies that get classified as Other so that we may best determine what new categories, if any, should be created.
